US Fed raises interest rates, leaves door open to another hike

The Federal Reserve raised interest rates by a quarter of a percentage point on Wednesday, citing still elevated inflation as a rationale for what is now the highest US central bank policy rate in 16 years.The rate hike, the Fed's 11th in its last 12 meetings, set the benchmark overnight interest rate in the 5.25%-5.50% range, and the accompanying policy statement left the door open to another increase.

Decide anew plea against Mizoram ST quota move, SC tells HC

The Supreme Court has asked the Gauhati HC to decide anew a writ petition filed by Mizoram Chakma Students Union (MCSU) challenging the validity of Mizoram (Selection of Candidates for Higher Technical Courses) Rules, 2016, by which the state had sub-classified Scheduled Tribe ST communities and provided 93% quota to Zo tribe while reducing Chakma tribe’s quota from 4% to 1% in 2021.
