The government plans to make the use of USB Type-C port for charging mobiles, smartphones and tablets mandatory from December 2024, aligning with the timeline announced by the European Union. While the Bureau of Indian Stnadrads (BIS) has notified the USB Type-C port and urged the government to make it mandatory, work is in progress to develop another type of charger that can be commonly used for wearable electronic devices.
