India calls out ‘double standards’ of rich nations on fossil fuel use

India has expressed its concerns to the UN climate body regarding the unfair use of certain provisions in the Paris Agreement, which it claims deny fossil fuel development for developing countries. It argues that developed countries continue to invest heavily in fossil fuel infrastructure whilst burdening developing nations with emission reduction responsibilities. India also highlights the failure of rich nations to mobilize finance for climate action and meet their promise of collectively providing $100 billion by 2020.
