Varanasi divisional commissioner Kaushal Raj Sharma on Thursday clarified that while a priest was granted access, devotees were not permitted inside the southern cellar of the Gyanvapi mosque, as per a court order. He refuted lawyer Vishnu Shankar Jain's claim that general devotees could enter the cellar to offer prayers, affirming that only the plaintiffs and the designated priest were allowed entry.
