1st week of Budget session’s 2nd leg one of least productive
Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day on Friday due to slogan-shouting by the opposition and protests by BJP over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent “democracy under threat” remarks in London. The first week of the second leg of the budget session in Lok Sabha was one of the least productive as proceedings were stalled for five days in a row with BJP insisting on an apology from Rahul and the Opposition seeking a JPC probe into the Adani issue.

Tehran also sought resumption of crude export to India citing Delhi’s decision to ramp up its crude imports from Russia, despite pressure from the US and other western countries to curb its economic engagements with Moscow.

NAAC IT system riddled with ‘opacity, gaps’: Internal probe
Now, an internal enquiry committee of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) has cast aspersions on its entire business. It said from step one when an institute submits its data to the NAAC, it is open to changes with “no mechanism to check data alteration”, to the last point on how peer team members are selected to inspect an institute, and everything in between that is riddled with “opacity”, “mistakes” and “gaps”.
